Meryl Krochmal, MS, RD, CDCES
Meryl has been a registered dietitian specializing in diabetes education for over 15 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Michigan State University and completed a dietetic internship at Oakland County Health Department. Meryl completed her graduate studies at Eastern Michigan University, receiving a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition.
Throughout her career, Meryl has worked with individuals of various ages and stages of their diabetes diagnosis. She provides individualized nutrition and diabetes self-management education to help patients work towards their goals.
Meryl is passionate about taking pieces of evidenced-based dietary patterns and merging those pieces into an eating plan that meets the patient’s cultural food preferences and dietary restrictions.
Meryl is a certified insulin pump trainer for Omnipod and T-slim and a trainer for Dexcom and Freestyle Libre CGM devices. She is skilled at reviewing data from diabetes devices and assisting patients with pattern management.
Basic Diabetes Self-Management Training
Designed for the newly diagnosed diabetes mellitus patient and the established patient with sub-optimal control whose goal is to improve glucose control. Includes Medical Nutrition Therapy.
Diabetes Medical Nutrition Therapy
Designed for the established patient who has specific nutrition management needs only. The Clinical Dietitian Diabetes Educator guides the patient in establishing an individualized nutrition plan and lifestyle changes to meet the patient’s needs. The patient is then trained on the knowledge and skills necessary to promote improvement and desired outcomes.
